Environmentally-friendly focus
The specialist retailer is increasingly focusing on electromobility: its own fleet already includes plug-in hybrid vehicles and e-bikes. DAS FUTTERHAUS also sees target-oriented perspectives in the acquisition of further electrically operated service bikes and purely electric cars. Consequently, the need for suitable charging stations is also increasing.
It is therefore the intention to install e-bike charging stations at the site of the Elmshorn company headquarters, which will allow riders of electric bikes to charge them directly on site.
The requirements for the products were clearly defined: Firstly, the stations should be easy to use and, secondly, they should guarantee the highest standards of safety. When the decision was made concerning possible products, the choice was for the BCS Pure from Spelsberg. The expert for electrical installations and housing technology offers various product solutions for charging e-bikes within its Infrastructure + E-Mobility business area.

Safe, tailor-made solutions
The robust BCS Pure and Smart e-bike charging stations based on GEOS housings are equipped in the standard configuration with original charging controllers from Bosch and Shimano, among others, and also with SCHUKO sockets. By using the original components, users do not have to carry their own charging cables and can count on maximum reliability and safety when charging. The integrated electronics monitor the system, detect overload, and switch off defective charging points accordingly. It is also equipped with other safety-related functions so that the charging process can always be carried out safely, regardless of environmental conditions and according to manufacturer specifications. In order to ensure easy handling with the variety of connections, the housings are provided with additional cable management.
A mounted cable holder and an LED status display offer additional convenience. Furthermore, the operating temperature of -25 °C to +40 °C enables year-round use in protected outdoor areas.
The manufacturer's range also includes the TG BCS 3 bicycle charging station made of durable polycarbonate. This is equipped with three SCHUKO sockets. The cover screws with a special head, protect the bicycle charging station from tampering. Thanks to the possibility of printing the products individually according to customer requirements, the design can be completely adapted to the respective place of use.
Partnership and competence
Both models are used in Elmshorn. One BCS Pure and one TG BCS 3 were each installed in the area of the bicycle racks, enabling easy and safe charging on site. The clients are highly impressed with both the collaboration from Spelsberg and the functionality of their charging stations: "Spelsberg presented itself to us as a competent partner who assisted us in an advisory and solution-oriented manner. BCS Smart as another project
New projects are already being planned together with Spelsberg, such as the qualification of further locations for a comprehensive field test installation of the BCS Smart.
The BCS Smart offers users a variety of additional services - on site or on the go. The BCS mobile app offers an overview of all available charging stations in the vicinity using a search function. Using the route function, e-bike riders can get to the selected station as quickly as possible and also get an insight into further information about the charging points, for example the number, type, or availability.
In addition, operators benefit from the BCS management portal. It provides a detailed overview of all installed BCS Smart charging stations with a representation of previous charging processes and users as well as statistics, including electricity consumption, and maintenance instructions. Individual charging points can also be activated or deactivated and operating times defined via remote access. In this way, operators have full access to their stations, and at the same time will be learning about user behaviour.
