Why AK small distribution boards
Height-adjustable standard rails provide space for 14 modules and enable the use of modular installation devices in sizes 1-3 as well as special designs. The flange system and the combination screw connection provide a stable housing connection and more space for through-wiring. The additional wiring space of the AK Plus variants enables quick, clear installation of 3-level terminal blocks.

Consequently, Plettenberg-based ironmongery and metal goods factory Herbert Paul GmbH & Co. KG also relies on Spelsberg’s small distribution boards. Founded in 1949, the specialists in stamping and forming technology carry out the manufacture of high-quality stamped, pressed, drawn and bent parts for companies from the automotive, electrical, construction and fittings industries as well as aerospace. The precision tools required for operation are manufactured in-house and enable the production not only of prototypes and small series but also of components in runs amounting to millions of units.
A small distribution board system was planned and installed in the industrial hall by local company Wiele Electro GmbH for the distribution and control of machines, socket outlets and switches, lighting and home automation. The electrical installation company which was founded in 1987 operates in the commercial and municipal sectors and its core competencies include the repair and maintenance of machines, the installation of data networks and the installation and testing of electrical installations and parts.
Impressive product solutions
Flange types for the AK small distribution boards were chosen for the solutions planned and installed by Wiele Electro which are ideal for customer-specific applications on account of their flexibility.
The AK-F 42 and AK-F 28 Plus small distribution boards were connected at the front by means of a combination flange. The individual distribution boards were connected at the side by combination connectors via the M50 knockouts. The user-friendly small distribution boards were virtually fully pre-wired by the electrician in the workshop so all that had to be done at the customer’s site was the final installation.

This meant that the electrician was able to install and wire the line and RCD circuit-breakers, KNX actuators and 3-tier modular terminals for supplying the electrical installations in the hall extremely easily in the additional connection space in the AK Plus housings. The KNX actuators are used for the energy-efficient automation of in-house technology, with the lighting being controlled by motion sensors and the blinds by light sensors. The solution is also used for distribution for the directly adjacent switches installed for the purpose of controlling the skylights for ventilating the production facility. The cover strips used protect the terminals installed against unauthorised access and provide reserve capacity for future installations. Here, the extra wiring space offered by the AK-F 42 Plus distribution boards has been used for the fast, straightforward installation of the 3-tier modular terminals – one of the indicators of professional distribution in the demanding industrial environment.
